People of all ages and all occupations, including students, working people, parents, and retired people, are invited to take evening and weekend courses. These 16-hour and longer courses may be taken either two or four hours a week, either during the day, the evening, or the weekend. The following non-credit courses are offered:
Human Physiology: Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature - Discovery under Maharishi's Guidance by Tony Nader, MD, PhD -- This 16-hour course presents the essence of the entire field of modern objective science and ancient subjective science. It brings to light the major discovery of the physiology in terms of its inner intelligence, whose impulses are available in the form of the Veda and Vedic Literature. All the specialized components and organs of the human physiology are found to match the 40 branches of the Vedic Literature one to one, both in structure and in function. Course participants will see how this discovery has opened the possibility for human existence to rise to a level of that order which is sustaining the universe and give the experience of "Aham Brahmasmi" (I am totality) to everyone.
Good Health Through Prevention -- This 16-hour course offers each course participant a holistic, prevention-oriented approach to good health, the Maharishi Vedic Approach to HealthSM. This approach integrates principles from the 40 areas of Veda and the Vedic Literature to restore and maintain balanced health in mind, body, behavior, and environment.
The Good Health Through Prevention course includes specific recommendations to help prevent ill health that include daily and seasonal routines, individualized diet, other health-promoting behavior, and development of higher states of consciousness -- all of which bring life increasingly into harmony with Natural Law, the basis of perfect health.
Other topics of the course include self-referral consciousness as the basis for prevention of disease; complete metabolism of experience for prevention of illness; maintaining balance in the physiology for prevention; importance of good digestion and metabolism for prevention; maintaining harmony between the individual and the universe through healthy daily and seasonal routines; the Maharishi Vedic AstrologySM program and Maharishi YagyaSM program for prevention of future imbalances; strengthening the immune system; reversing the aging process; and preventing collective health problems of society.
This course gives a comprehensive understanding of the nature and attainment of Yoga, which is the unification of individual and cosmic life. The participants are trained in Maharishi Yoga program postures and breathing exercises, which promote mind-body integration and support balanced good health.
Topics of the course also include the following: Yoga and integration of all aspects of life; Bhagavad-Gita as the supreme textbook of Yoga; scientific research validating the benefits of Yoga postures; higher states of consciousness -- fulfillment of the practice of the Maharishi Yoga program; discovery of Veda and the Vedic Literature in human physiology; developing the state of Yoga through the Maharishi Transcendental Meditation SM and TM-SidhiSM programs; enlivening the intelligence in all levels of the physiology through Maharishi Yoga program postures and breathing exercises; and the influence of each posture on the physiology, from the perspectives of modern science and Maharishi's Vedic Science.
Self-Pulse Reading Course for Prevention -- This introductory course provides the theory and practical technique for detecting balance and imbalance in the body through Self-Pulse Reading. The course also describes measures to correct imbalances before disease arises.
Course participants learn not only to detect states of physiological balance and imbalance; they also learn how the process of Self-Pulse Reading can create a balancing influence in any area of imbalance, spontaneously enhancing physiological integration. Participants gain a thorough understanding of how the intelligence within the physiology is reflected in the pulse. Other topics include feeling the influence of cosmic cycles in the pulse; feeling imbalances in the pulse; the stages of imbalance; causes and effects of imbalance; how the body's inner intelligence protects against imbalance; and restoring and maintaining balance through proper diet and through daily and seasonal routines.
This 16-lesson course enables every participant to learn Self-Pulse Reading in a gradual, systematic, and effortless way. The format allows ample time to practice Self-Pulse Reading, and to grow in mastery of the principles and technique. Advanced courses also available
Diet, Digestion, and Nutrition -- This course provides profound principles and practical knowledge of how to promote good health through proper diet, digestion, and nutrition. Participants learn to select their diet on the basis of the state of their physiology and the season. They learn how to promote optimal nourishment and health through balanced digestion.
Topics of this 16-hour course include factors to consider in dietetics; the nature of food and its inherent qualities; guidelines for the intake of food; digestion of food; quantity and combination of foods; the relation of the environment to the selection and digestion of food; the relation of circadian and seasonal rhythms to dietetics; the relation of age and state of health to dietetics; the physiology of digestion and metabolism; balance and imbalance of digestion and metabolism, and their correction; the influence of mind, senses, emotions, and behavior on digestion; and the relationship of diet and digestion to the development of higher states of consciousness.
